Safety First

Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) electrical outlets are inexpensive electrical devices that protect people from potentially fatal electrical shocks by detecting ground faults. The GFCI constantly monitors electricity flowing in a circuit and is able to sense any loss in current. If the current flowing through the circuit differs by even a small amount from that returning current, the GFCI quickly switches off power to that circuit. GFCI electrical outlets can react in as little as 1/30th of a second. Let Kaiser’s electricians install GFCI electrical outlets in the parts of your home or office that need them most.

Whole House Surge Protectors – With so many sensitive electronic devices throughout your home that can easily be damaged by even the smallest surge in power, a whole house surge protector is a sound investment. Computers, printers, stereo equipment, telephones and security systems are all susceptible to electrical surges, especially after a power outage. The cost of replacing electronic components can be monumental. Call us today for the peace of mind that your critical electronic devices be protected… no matter what the weather.

What is a Ground Fault Interrupter?

A Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) is a device used to protect the consumer from electrical shock. This device is completely different from a circuit breaker or fuse.

How does a GFCI device work?

A GFCI device monitors the amount of current flowing between the phase (hot) conductor and the neutral conductor. It is able to sense a mismatch as small as 4 to 5 milliampers, and it can react as quickly as 1/30 of a second.

Where are GFCI's used?

A Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters are used in wet or damp locations

Are GFCI's required by the National Electrical Code?

Yes. GFCI's are required on all new construction homes and businesses, as well as on all remodels.

Do I need to test a Ground Fault Interrupter?

Yes. It is recommended you test each device once a month. These devices could be damaged by a power surge or electrical storm - appear to be working properly, and give the consumer a false sense of security.
